CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Allie Pressman
Age: 17
Canon: The Society

World Description: This sucker explains it well

History: Wikia

Death: At the end of Season 1, Allie is betrayed by The Guard who had sworn to protect her, three of the four boys being led by Campbell with Harry (and Lexie) as his pawns. Allie, along with Will, are being held prisoner by the group who have overthrown her as Mayor of New Ham, spreading lies in order to seize power for themselves.

While she does not die in canon, for the purposes of her death for ITN: Allie is shot in the back (almost mirroring the death of her sister) as she is being led away from a restless crowd, the majority of whom have bought into the lies being fed to them by the others. Allie has no idea who was responsible for her death and amidst the chaos of those around her at the time, she knows it could have been anyone. (LBR it was Campbell.)

What are your plans for this character in-game? Allie brings a slightly different perspective as she's spent the better part of a year living in a place, an awful lot like Beacon. She considers things like long-term survival and has the ability to look at the bigger picture while others can too easily develop tunnel vision. I can see Allie quickly trying to slip into a leadership role; somebody trying to bring structure to a group who have been thrown into a chaotic situation, for the greater good. I'm curious to see if she'll make the same mistakes she did in New Ham, or if she'll even be able to do anything close what she has in the past, considering the different dynamics that will be in play in Beacon. There's also the fact that by her age alone, she's unlikely to be taken seriously like she was in New Ham.

What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? The inevitable politics that will arise in Beacon and watching Allie go from being a leader in West Ham, to struggling to have people take her seriously given her age. I'm looking forward to seeing if she will allow 'the adults' to step in and take over, though I suspect that she won't be willing to sit back, after being the one everyone looked to in a situation much like the one they'll be in, in Beacon. Allie will look for ways to turn Beacon into a functioning society in a way that she was never able to completely achieve in New Ham.

How does your character generally get along with other people? For the most part, Allie appears to be somebody who can easily flit between different groups and personalities with ease. She's one of the few people in The Society that crosses social circles and doesn't allow the opinions of others to dictate whether she will be friendly towards somebody or not. She is, however, not afraid to challenge veritable strangers when she doesn't agree with what they're doing and has proved that she isn't afraid of confrontation, whether on the giving or receiving end.

She will challenge people to be better, push them to cast aside their fears, smack them back to reality when they sorely need it. At times she appears to lack empathy, something we see more as the series progresses. She had the future of their groups survival weighing on her and she began lose touch with the every day struggles of those around her. She doesn't completely lose her ability to care, however, and we see that when she protects Elle at a heavy cost to herself. When it matters, she can be a fierce friend, even to those she barely knows but does need to be reminded from time to time that everyone's pain is relative to their own experiences.

What is your character's mental state upon entering the game? Allie is a twisted combination of resignation and anger. She saw her death coming, predicted it the moment she realized she was going to need to step into the shoes of her murdered sister and yet even believing this, there was an undeniable part of Allie who wanted to believe she could make a difference.

She has a surprising amount of control under the circumstances and isn't likely to feel lost or afraid the way one might expect your average teenager to be. She understands that there isn't time to fall apart, not when survival is at stake and while she might remember her death vividly? What she has been through in West Ham and then arriving in Beacon will give her the hope that she's not quite as dead as she should be.

I imagine there may be more of a hardness there that we hadn't seen before. She's just experienced a deep betrayal at the hands of the very people who swore after her sisters murder, that they would have her back no matter what. It won't be easy for her to trust so openly, now that she knows how fleeting so-called friendships can be but that does't mean she's been rendered incapable of it, just that it will take time for her to regain her faith in the people around her.

Skills/Abilities: Allie is the most human, but rather than skills or abilities, she brings experience to Beacon. She knows things they need to consider because she's experienced it first hand. She might not have wilderness survival skills but she knows the importance of community, is good at identifying what needs to be done and not being afraid of ensuring she's heard, even when her opinions aren't popular.

Flaws/Weaknesses: Allie's greatest weakness is that she can allow what she thinks she should do, or others expectations of her, to drive many of her decisions. We see her go against her own morals in order to be the leader she thinks she's supposed to be. Perhaps, the kind of leader that she believed her sister to be. She seems to be in a tug of war with herself, about being who she wants to be versus who she needs to be and that struggle causes her to make costly mistakes with those around her.

While being unafraid to speak your mind, even if those opinions aren't popular, should well be seen as a strength? It has, throughout the series, been her downfall as she isn't enough of a politician to always make things more palatable to the people around her. She's a strong leader, doing what's best for people even if they don't agree but it also mean she's often seen as a dictator. Perhaps in reality, she is. She makes decisions based around what she believes is best for others and she lays down the rules her sister initially developed and dishes out punishments when they aren't adhered to. Its an uncomfortable reality that while being a Dictator, she also happens to be right.

Allie will sacrifice her own wants and needs for the greater good and this is seen more and more as the series goes on.

As mentioned earlier, she can lack empathy. There were legitimate concerns that were brought to her, that she disregarded because they seemed - to her - insignificant in the grand scheme of things. She's had to become numb to a great many things in order to make it as far as she did but it seems that in doing so, there are times when she can't really relate to those around her.

Personality: Growing up in the shadow of an overachieving older sister has been anything but easy for Allie. Cassandra was the natural born leader; Student Body President, Debate Team Captain, Lead of the School Production and future Yale student. She stood up for what she believed in, even when it was unpopular, never one who was afraid to make the hard decisions. All that while overcoming a congenital heart condition, has made Allie feel like she could never measure up. Instead of allowing that to turn into resentment, however, Allie became her sisters greatest supporter. Her whole life has been spent championing her sister and her causes, Allie truly believing that if anyone could save them all (when they found themselves abandoned), it was going to be her sister.

It's Cassandra's death in episode three, that while completely shaking Allie to her core, is what sees her begin to come into her own and yet the shadow that Cassandra cast in life, continues long after her death. Allie struggles with trying to fill the shoes of a sister who made it always look easy and we see Allie stumbling her way through the early days of her role as Mayor in New Ham, as she struggles with her grief while trying to be just like Cassandra. She slowly but surely loses her lighthearted, playful side as she takes on responsibilities that are far beyond what anyone her age should have to contend with. She's forced to grow up overnight and for the first time in her life, she doesn't have anyone who can make life easier for her by telling her what to do. Not now when she’s surrounded by people who expect her to have all the answers.

We see the confidence in her actions grow, even through missteps she makes along the way. Allie learns to push back on people who have swayed her opinion as she realizes she’s the one who has to deal with the consequences of the choices she makes as ‘Mayor’. What Allie slowly sees, is that there is no right or wrong answer. The moral choice isn’t always going to be the one that will achieve the best possible outcome. She grows into her own as a leader, even admitting that she enjoys the power that comes with it and at her core, Allie truly believes she’s the best person for the job. It’s not pure arrogance, however, because in many ways she is. Her sisters death forced her to reject her denial of their reality and the fact that nobody else would fix this for them. She’s experienced firsthand just how harsh their ‘society’ could become if there isn’t structure and careful planning.

Not everyone sees it the way she does, however, and we see those who have challenged her rule by promoting more popular ideas that pander to the whims of teenagers, but don’t consider the longevity of their group. It would be easier for her to remain in power by simply giving everyone what they want, but Allie is the kind of person that would rather be a martyr, than to allow want of power and popularity to sway her from what she believes is their best chance at survival.

Items: Just the clothes on her back: Jeans, t-shirt, jacket, shoes, a beanie.
